Plaque and tartar: what’s the difference?
Plaque comes from the accumulation of bacteria on the teeth and under the gum rim. The presence of plaque on the teeth requires particular vigilance because it can promote the appearance of caries and periodontal diseases. Regular brushing and the use of dental floss generally help to prevent plaque formation. Without this care, the plaque does not disappear quickly and hardens to become tartar.
